The Easter Story photobook
I’m really keen on reading the whole story of Easter from the Bible every Easter. However, as I’ve mentioned before, I think it’s hard to find a Bible which is accessible for children who are early readers, around age 5-7 years. They are moving on from children’s Bibles, wanting more depth and more stories, but still find the font size and bulk of a whole Bible translation a bit tricky. To make the Easter story more accessible to my five-year-old, I’ve created a 20-page book with the text from Luke 22–24 from the Contemporary English Version. If you’ve not come across it, it’s well worth checking out as it’s a good translation and works well to read aloud. I’ve made my book 20 pages so that it can be printed by Free Prints books for only £5.99 including P&P which I reckon is a very accessible price too!
What I’d REALLY love is for a publisher to take actual Bible text like I have, and add to it some fabulous Quentin Blake or Narnia-style illustrations to make it even more accessible for our early readers. Even better, would be to print each book of the Bible in a separate book, on matte paper so they can also add their own pictures and notes as they explore the Bible.
If you like this, you might also like my illustrated book using scenes posed by our toys – you can download the text as pictures and add your own pictures to create your own book.
