You are invited to a fun, interactive workshop day for your family. The aim is to inspire, encourage and equip you and your family in your faith at home together.
The workshop takes place on Saturday 18th May from 10am – 3pm at St Matthias Church, Richmond, TW10 6NN as part of the Richmond Team Ministry – the churches of St. Mary Magdalene, St. Matthias & St. John the Divine.
Come as a family to enjoy a creative mix of games and activities. In the morning there will be opportunity to try out new ways to explore the Bible and pray together and discover what suits your unique family. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Shabbat ritual using hands on activities at five stations followed by taking part in the Shabbat rituals together.
The day is aimed at families with children who are mostly between 4 and 11 years old, although younger and older children are welcome. Children remain the responsibility of their parents or carers throughout, and the whole session is set up for adults and children work together, experimenting with ideas you can adapt and do again at home.
The format will be:
9:45am Arrive – refreshments and welcome activities
10am Morning Session
Together Time 1: An interactive introduction session all together including some activities to explore faith at home in the Bible and discover some of the things we already do in our homes which help our faith grow.
Activity time 1: Time to explore the Bible story using lots of different activities, a chance to find out what suits your family and get some new ideas.
Together Time 2: Time to reflect on what we’ve done and to try out a few creative prayer activities.
Activity time 2: More time to explore, this time trying out new ways to pray as a family together.
Together Time 3: A chance to review what’s worked and what you might like to do together at home, with a couple more activities and ideas for some faith at home resources.
Midday: LUNCH: Bring your own
1pm Afternoon Session
Together Time 4: A brief, interactive introduction to rituals and the different elements of Shabbat, what the Bible says about rest and what it might mean for your family.
Activity time 3: Time to explore five elements of Shabbat (light, water, bread, wine, blessing) at five stations including activities to make things to use together at home, including designing artwork, making bread and designing candle holders.
Together Time 3: A final get together with an opportunity to join in with each part of the Shabbat ritual.
Victoria from GodVenture will be around the whole time to answer any questions and help you get the most out of the session. The aim is to encourage you in what you do already and give you some ideas for you to use at home together.
